Become a VITA Volunteer
With a bit of training, you can become a VITA volunteer.
Before tax season, thousands of VITA volunteers receive training to help low-to-moderate-income taxpayers in their community file their tax returns. These volunteer efforts are important to ensure that low-to-moderate-income households take advantage of tax credits. Find out more information about these volunteer roles.

- Personal satisfaction from helping people in your community
- Opportunities to provide meaningful assistance to others locally with convenient day, evening, and weekend hours to fit your schedule
- A Certificate of Recognition and Letter of Appreciation from the IRS

Getting Started
Volunteers are needed from late January through mid-April.
Many local organizations participate in the VITA Program. Complete the IRS inquiry form. Your interest will be shared with local sponsoring organizations. A local organization will provide training to become a certified VITA volunteer, and then you will be ready to help others in the community.
