Updates for SNAP Recipients
New Jersey issued full November 2025 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to eligible households on the morning of Friday, November 7, following a federal court ruling.
- SNAP recipients are encouraged to check their Families First EBT cards at NJFamiliesFirst.com or by calling (800) 997-3333 to confirm their balances and use their benefits as needed.
- SNAP benefits loaded on your Families First EBT card prior to Oct. 31 remain available for use as well.
- New Jersey continues to monitor developments and will continue to provide updates at NJSNAP.gov as needed.

Additional Resources for SNAP Recipients
Essex County
Emergency Assistance Program (for City of Newark residents ONLY): a temporary program to provide financial assistance to individuals and families who, without SNAP, struggle to afford things like household utilities (water, gas, internet, etc.), rent/mortgage, rental arrears, transportation, childcare, an co-pays for health provider visits and prescriptions.
This program does NOT offer allowance or food assistance: approved applicants will receive a check up to $600 to cover the exact cost of their emergency.
Applicants will receive a notification of confirmation via email and should expect an email with their application status within 72 hours. Apply here
Monmouth & Ocean Counties
Fulfill is preparing "Crisis Boxes", emergency food kits to support federal workers who are unable to work due to the shutdown and SNAP recipients.
- If you are interested in receiving a Crisis Box to distribute to impacted individuals, fill out this request form.
Union County
Temporary Bridge Financial Relief Program: available for Union County residents, Monday, November 3rd - Friday, November 7th. 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

For Union County SNAP Recipients:
To receive assistance, you must bring:
- Families First (EBT) card
- SNAP case number
- Valid Photo ID
- MUST be the Head of Household listed on the case
For SNAP recipients who have a Protective Payee (Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities):
The Protective Payee must bring:
- Two forms of ID
- The Families First (EBT) card associated with the case
- The SNAP case number
