Northern New Jersey Resources

Community Hope’s Hope for Veterans

Community Hope’s programs for veteran’s address homelessness, mental illness, and substance use, among other things. Their programs include Transitional Housing; Permanent Supportive Housing, and Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF).

The Transitional Housing and Permanent Support Housing programs provide housing to veterans and additional assistance. This assistance may include The Transitional Housing program typically lasting 3 to 9 months at which point, participants either graduate from the program or transfer to the Permeant Support Housing Program. Along with housing, these 2 programs include support like individual and group mental health therapy and counseling, recovery services for individuals experiencing substance use and mental illnesses, case management services, access to employment opportunities and support, along with other services.  

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families is available in Bergen, Burlington, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. This program is designed to prevent homelessness through various forms of assistance. Families also receive case management and support services that may include assistance with medical care, mental health or substance abuse treatment, child care and job training.  Temporary financial assistance may also be available to help with such expenses as security deposits, back rent, utility payments or bedding and household essentials. Southern New Jersey Resources

Veteran Services

This program is administered by Catholic Charities to serve veterans and their families who reside in or are transitioning into permanent housing. Assistance through this program is confined to low-income veterans in six southern NJ counties including Atlantic, Camden, Cumberland, Cape May, Gloucester, and Salem.
