Emergency Assistance (Housing)

Service Description:

Provides a lifetime limit of 6 months of emergency assistance to prevent homelessness to recipients of WFNJ/TANF/GA and SSI. A 6-month extension may be available and varies on a case by case basis. Benefits include, but are not limited to:

- Shelter and household furnishings
- Temporary rental assistance or back rent or mortgage payments
- Utility payments (such as heat, water, and electric)
- Moving expenses
- Rapid rehousing for TANF recipients




Interested applicants must be currently receiving WFNJ/TANF/GA or SSI benefits.

For the Rapid Rehousing program, open to self-sufficient TANF families who are currently homeless.

Application Instructions:

Walk in for an assessment. Wait time can last the entire day and there is no waiting room available. Clients should be prepared to wait outside. If the client is living with someone, they must present a notorized letter stating that they can no longer reside at their current address.
