Service Description:

Families and individuals facing homelessness or a housing crisis such as eviction, utilities shut-off, or foreclosure may apply for emergency financial assistance from Arm in Arm. The agency provides emergency financial assistance for:

- Back rent
- Mortgage
- Security deposit
- Utilities bills

Families and individuals facing complex barriers to stability may receive longer-term support through the case management program.




Open to Mercer County residents.

For Housing Assistance:

- Applicants must facing an imminent threat of homelessness (court ordered eviction, fire, condemned housing, etc.)
- The applicant's annual income does not exceed 2.5 times the federal poverty level for their household size
- Applicants have found or plan to stay in housing that he or she can continue to afford (the monthly rent or mortgage payments are less than 70% of their net monthly income)
- Applicants agree to provide a portion of the amount owed

For Utilities:

- Applicants have a current shut-off notice
- The applicant's total balance due to the utility company does not exceed $1,500
- The applicant's annual income does not exceed 3 times the federal poverty level for their household size

Application Instructions:

An intake interview is required for financial assistance. Please call to set up an appointment. Applicants must bring the following documentation to the intake interview: - Identification - Court-filed eviction notice, foreclosure notice, or proof of current homelessness, such as proof of shelter or hotel stay, or utilities shut-off notice (as applicable) - Proof of household income, such as your most recent pay or benefits stub - For SSI, TANF, and GA recipients, Mercer County Board of Social Services emergency assistance approval or denial letter and grant letter from the last 30 days. After the intake interview, the applicant's case will be reviewed by Arm In Arm housing staff. Please note, Arm & Arm can only provide financial assistance to an individual once in a calendar year and up to two times in five years. Completing the intake process does not guarantee assistance.
